About Us

We would like to welcome your family to our family at Metro Gymnastics. It is hard to believe, but we are entering our 30TH successful year of gymnastics fun. Metro Gymnastics program is the most innovative and exciting gymnastics program available in the state of Oklahoma.

We pride ourselves on the fact that we provide an organized  gymnastics program. Our monthly lesson plan themes are creative and enthusiastic. Our Lesson Plan Logic is always posted in the waiting room for all parents to read and understand the basis of each monthly theme. More importantly, it tells you what your child is being taught each week he or she comes to gymnastics class.

We strive to make each child feel important!  This is inherent in all that we do. Each child in every class will feel successful and should go home feeling good about himself or herself.  Listed below are all the programs we offer at Metro.  Call the office now and schedule your free introductory class today!

MINI – MIGHT’S / PARENT – TOT
“Mommy! Daddy! Let’s go to ‘Nastics’!!

 (Walking - 3 years old)

Participation in parent-child class is a wonderful opportunity for the parent and child to spend time together. We offer an exciting new program that is designed to help your child develop physically, mentally, and socially.

Our Mini - Might’s will learn basic gymnastics skills. We explore being inverted, weightless, heights, balance, depth perception, gripping power, individual space, and sharing. We also help develop the child’s ball handling skills, eye-hand coordination, eye-foot coordination and all around physical fitness.

A toddler’s mastery of manual skills is very difficult; therefore, your child should receive praise for his or her smallest achievements. Positive reinforcement is the backbone of this program.

METRO’S MIGHTY MIGHTS
(3, 4, and 5 years)
“Teacher! Watch Me!”

This is the battle cry of the Metro Mighty Mights as they take to the floor during our 45-minute preschool age classes. Starting with our musical warm-up, we have these children moving, singing, and learning throughout the entire class.

For Metro’s three-year-olds, movement education is our emphasis. We work on developing coordination, strength, balance and body awareness through specially designed activities and basic gymnastics skills. With our animated terminology and creative instruction, we encourage the children to use their imaginations to enhance learning. In our three-year-old classes, we also spend considerable time practicing newly acquired social skills, such as listening when someone is talking and taking turns.

Having longer attention spans and more developed listening comprehension skills, our four year olds are able to focus more on mastering basic gymnastic skills. The children will later perform these skills on the “big kid” equipment as they progress. Continuing our goal of helping the children develop mentally as well as physically, we implement educational activities in combination with gymnastics skills. An example of this is learning our left and right by figuring our which is our “favorite” foot to start our cartwheels.

As the children move up to a five-year-old class, they are given the opportunity to use the “big kid” equipment. What a thrill it is for the children to walk by themselves on the high balance beam or swing from the highest monkey bar! At all of the events, our coaches continue to help the children master the gymnastics fundamentals and skill progressions that they will need to become super gymnasts. Watch self-confidence soar!!

iconMetro's Developmental Girls Classes

METRO’S DEVELOPMENTAL GIRLS CLASSES
(6 years and up)

The most enthusiastic and vital group at Metro has to be the great gang of kids who make up our developmental skill classes. Every afternoon the gym rocks with all of the boys and girls who are learning and practicing fun gymnastic tricks at every station in the gym. Metro’s classes offer sound gymnastics education for all types of children. Since our main goal is always to make learning gymnastics fun, we are introducing THEME MONTHS this year that are outlined in the handbook. Throughout the year, each month will have a fun focus that will direct the manner in which we teach various skills. For example, during “Fabulous FUNdamentals Month” the children will learn what is means to arch (bend your back like a banana) or hollow (rock like a boat), and how these positions can change a handstand or a cartwheel. For every child, no matter what his or her goal, training at Metro Gymnastics is an excellent avenue for gaining confidence, athletic ability, and personal growth, as well as the long-term rewards of life long health and fitness.

METRO’S TUMBLING CLASSES
(6 years and up)

For those children who would rather flip around on floor all day than swing on the bars or walk on the balance beam, Metro offers Tumbling Classes. In these classes, we focus on learning how to perform and perfect a wide range of tumbling skills from walking on our hands to front flips and backhandsprings. Whether you are preparing for cheerleading tryouts or just wanting to improve your tumbling, these classes are for you.

iconMetro's Competitive Gymnastics Team

METRO’S COMPETITIVE GYMNASTICS TEAM

Once a child has accomplished the skills that are listed in the handbook, we extend an offer, to the parents of that child, to become involved in Metro’s Competitive Team. Metro Gymnastics has instructed numerous sectional, state and Regional champions. Our philosophy for the competitive team is that each gymnast receives the finest instruction, while assisting the child’s development of character qualities such as self-confidence, determination, dedication, discipline and a positive self-image. Therefore, we work very hard each day to maintain this goal. If you or your child is interested in our competitive gymnastics team, please ask. We will answer any questions you or your child might have.
